    Responsibilities

    PURPOSE

     

    The purpose of this position is to perform compliance audits of employer contributions in accordance with approved guidelines and policies. The Payroll Auditor will work with the employers and local union to resolve audit issues and assist the Trustees in fulfilling their fiduciary responsibilities to safeguard assets.

    Qualifications

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

     

      

    Plans the Engagement

    • Reviews terms of the CBA
    • Reviews previous audit file and identifes potential issues
    • Communicates with employers, local unions, and other departments regarding the audit engagement
    • Sets up the accumulation forms for fieldwork
    • Sets up the test of reported contributions work paper
    • Determines if audit is candidate for a limited or a waived scope audit
    • Completes all pre-audit work papers and correspondence in compliance with the Audit ProgramPerforms Compliance Audit
    •  
    • Performs detailed verification and analysis of employer records
    • Investigates any unreasonable areas that have been identified, and expand of audit if necessary
    • Documents results and conclusions
    • Prepares a report of findings
    • Discusses areas of error and improvement with employersEvaluates and Resolves Disputes
    •  
    • Educates employer on correct reporting procedures and documents required to be maintained
    • Identifies legal issues and prepares and submits requests for legal opinions
    • Works with employers and local unions to achieve resolution of audit issues
    • Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibilities and requirements of the job

    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

     

    Years of Experience and Knowledge

    • 3 ~ 5 years of related experience minimum
    • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

    Education, Licenses, and Certifications 

    • Associate's degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience required

     

    Skills and Abilitie 

    • Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
    • Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills
    • 25% ~ 50% travel
    • Strong Oral & Written communication
    • Strong interpersonal and team oriented
    • Analytical, deductive reasoning, problem solving, and decision making
    • Excellent Organization
    • Manage competing deadlines
